2012-JUST ANOTHER
NUMBER ??
Is it just another
year or not? Why is it that everyone is excited or rather anticipating this
year to be any different. It may be another year just like 2010 or 2011. But,
then why is it that when people hear the numbers 2-0-1-2, a kind of blind fear
grips them, after all they are just numbers.
And yet they say
“time is ticking”, “the end is near” etc…
So, naturally a
question arises.. Is it the end of the mankind era or not?? By mankind I don’t
mean that fishes and pretty butterflies will with stand and survive a
supposedly shattering holocaust.
It is only a human
perception that even if some one relates some thing good to something bad, good
becomes bad!! Why is there an indication of negative energy or bad events about
to occur whenever we hear the subtle number ”2012”.
The MAYANS,
believed it to be the end if time in their ancient calendar created by their
learned ones, according to this , our year 2012 and beyond cannot be “dated” on
their calendar as it is out of boundary for their calendar’s working.
The MAYANS played
a game much similar to the current day volleyball, the only difference being
that they used only hips. The objective of their game was to put a rubber ball
of about 4kilogram into a hoop made of stone , on either side of the valley
shaped field. When the ball is put through the hoop the game ends.
But unlike today’s
sports, the losing team was not allowed
to walk off the field with a handshake, but was sacrificed in the name of the
gods!! Imagine if a world cup of this sport was held!! This ball in the whole
game’s ending is related to the earth-sun couple. As the game ends once the ball enters the hoop , time
supposedly ends when the earth and the
sun align in 2012.
But the big
question still remains.
Are we ready to
accept the sayings and prophecies of junglemen, in an era of cars, airplanes,
cigarettes, and rock music???
Even if we do
manage to fight off the speculation of the 4 digit number, there are still
movies which show wholesale destruction and HD quality disasters as if they
were shot live.
If the earth
wanted to end itself, why would it have chosen a specific date such as “ 21/12/2012”,
and why not Christmas day –“the season of hope”. What can be the odds of a
surge of random destructive activities going to occur on a specific date!
Another
interesting aspect of this 2012 hype, are the people-generated ideas and
figures. There are certain images on the internet that claim to show the map of
the world post-2012 era.
According to that
map, Australia is a mud-pile
under water, only 20% of current day America
remains and only 40% of current day India
A spinning top,
starts to wobble before its spin is about to come to an end, similarly certain
scientists claim that earth may stop spinning in the future(The earth is
already tilted to about 23degrees).This is believed to give rise to pole
reversal thereby melting the poles due to heat. God bless the penguins!!!
It is apt to say
now that it would be fine to leave this number game back with our mathematics
textbook. Mother nature has blessed us with so many things, therefore it would
be crazy and outlandish to assume that time is coming to end ...so soon!
